Devoted: The Gospel & Good Works—Titus Series
Devoted: The Gospel & Good Works was GHCC's study through Titus this year. I designed the logo/branding and devotional look/layout once again. This was probably my most ambitious devotional book ever. Early on in the branding process, I decided I wanted the visual theme of this book to be beautiful, but also bring up thoughts of devotion and hard work. Mountain climbing became a subject that allowed me to accomplish both. The Christian walk is not easy. You have to be in it for the long haul, through many storms and tough climbs. You can't just show up and expect it to be easy. I kept having the same thoughts about mountain climbing. While I am not a pro mountain climber by any means, I just know that you can't show up in flip-flops and expect to climb the tallest peaks in the world. It takes planning, dedication, preparation, training, and a strong desire to see the top. This imagery became a natural fit and I tried to mold the look of the book to be more of a climbing journal. I made a each week a different step in the process of climbing up the mountain. Week 1 was the Base Camp and the final week was the mountain peak. I'm really happy with how this one turned out and it has become one of my favorite projects.

In Accord: 1 Timothy Series
This is the artwork for the 1 Timothy series at Golden Hills called In Accord. A 9-week study guide book was produced to go along with the series (see samples after the jump!). The main idea was to show various shapes merging to represent the idea of the gospel and grace being in accord with each other. We had a lot of fun with the promotion and stage design to make it all work together.

The Five Solas
Golden Hills' annual Small Group Campaign is all about the five Solas of the Protestant Reformation. These foundational truths define the Christian faith and are a great reminder of our history as a church. I designed the look after many hours of research into artwork and styles of the 16th century and added some modern influence. Even the typeface I used for the workbook, Adobe Garamond, is based on the original Garamond typeface from the time period of the Reformation (when printing presses were starting to become popular). I wanted the book to feel authentic to the source material and give it a sense of age and history. Below are a few select spreads of the workbook for you to see.
