Let the World Rejoice — Christmas 2016

This is GHCC's Christmas Musical, Let the World Rejoice. With a global theme exploring how different cultures around the world celebrate Christmas, I knew I wanted this to have a different look than the typical "American Christmas" look we often see. The main ornament image incorporated landmarks from all over the earth, while the textures and colors incorporated the brightness and warm colors that are often seen in the celebrations of other cultures.

Theology of Work Series

This Summer, GHCC did a series titled The Theology of Work that explored God's design for work and how He views our work. Where many of us view working as a negative necessity, it was not originally designed to be that way and it doesn't have to stay that way today. For the theme art, we decided to show a standard white work bench wall where tools would normally be hung. Instead of just standard tools from a work bench, we interspersed tools from all kinds of industries and jobs. The overall idea is meant to convey that no matter what your job is, they are all important, they all belong in the collage of jobs, and God has designed it to be used for something more than a paycheck.

Living Hope: 1 Peter Series

The current series at GHCC is Living Hope in a Hopeless World, a Study of 1 Peter. The title is pretty self explanatory, but the first image that came to my mind is a shipwreck. I found this old image of a shipwrecked group on a makeshift raft desperately waving to a lifeboat for help. This image really captured the essense of the title, in my mind, so I developed it into the main image of the series.

Fynyshd: GHCC Winter Camp 2016

GHCC's Winter Camp this year had a Vikings theme with the title, Fynyshd (pronounced "finished"), and explores the story of the Gospel and Christ's finished work on the Cross. I love Vikings history so this was a fun project for me to explore and create.

For the apparel, I illustrated logos for the two teams (Dragons and Vikings) based on Norse carvings and artwork.

The Gospel

This is my 8th year designing the annual church-wide campaign devotional book covers for GHCC.

This year's theme is The Gospel. What it is, how it works, and what our responsibilities as Christians have to do with it. All of the imagery we are using for the 6-week study has to do with news and getting news out, so I thought this image of a hand picking out type for a letterpress was a great fit for the cover.
